Engineered flooring takes solid wood and maximizes its coverage potential by applying real wood layers to a plywood or high-density fiberboard substrate. Depending on the thickness of the real wood wear layer (0.6mm - 4mm on average), 3 - 12 pieces of engineered flooring can be manufactured for every one piece of 3/4" thick solid wood flooring.
