Care & Maintenance
Remember to protect your investment with the use of our recommended cleaners (store bought cleaners may leave films, residue and can even void a warranty). The Divine cleaning kit will preserve the finish and rejuvenate the look of your floor without the use of wax or abrasives.
Directions for Using Divine Hardwood Flooring's Cleaning Kit:
- Use a soft bristle vacuum or broom to remove all debris.
- Lightly spray cleaner onto a section of floor or spray directly onto mop until damp.
- Mop back and forth lengthwise along floorboards. Complete one section before moving onto the next.
- Keep working the mop in the section until all traces of cleaner have evaporated.
Preventative Maintenance
- Always use clean (machine-washed) mop covers as the micro fibers of the mop head perform best when free of dust or debris. Failure to do so can leave you with film or residue.
- Never use products which contain wax, oil based soap or home remedies. These types of cleaners have been known to create build up which result in aggressive stripping or refinishing of floors.
- Use cork or felt pads under furniture to protect from indentations or scratches on your hardwood floor.
- Do not use wet-mopping as a standard maintenance procedure. Wet mopping can damage wood and lead to discolouring residue.
- Do not wear high heels or sport shoes on the floor. A woman weighing 120lbs creates 1920lb of impact per square inch. Regardless of the hardness of the wood specie you have installed, this will create indentations that can only be removed with board replacements or refinishing.
- Use throw rugs with a "hardwood friendly" underlay at entrance points of the house to trap dirt and sand before getting on the hardwood floor.
- Your house temperature should be kept between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius.
